18.06.2004; Jena, Soccer Clubhouse; Going-away Party
back

Today was the Going-away Party of the globetrotter in the soccer clubhouse of the
Ernst-Abbe-Stadium. Start was at 8:00 p.m. Invited where family members, buddies, friends, sponsors and others interested people.

The actual beginning for the globetrotter was already 4:00 p.m... At that time the check of the right weight of every body’s luggage (per person 8kg personal things plus 4kg general things) was planned. Furthermore some time for last rearrangements and tests of the technical equipment was needed.

But the plan didn’t work out quite well; at 7:00 p.m. were at least five of the eight starting attendants finally there! But at the same time the first guests arrived too. By that time one of the attendants hadn’t even packed a thing…Another had packed. Good job. Too bad, but over 20 kg…

But that was expected and there was no reason to worry about it.

More and more guests came and after a while even all the “globetrotter” were attending.
So the party could finally start…

Now the “attendants” were shaved…
Everybody got a more or less bald head, because there won’t be any time during the 80 days for long stops to get a new nice haircut. So the really really short hair seemed the best solution.

And so the night turned out to be a lot of fun. Quite a lot of people handed hand-made gifts to their leaving friends, which where presented in front of now almost 200 people. The ardour was immense.

During that time the EM soccer game Italy vs. Sweden was on. But nobody was really interested in it. Just the awesome goal to the result 1: 1 was greatly cheered by many people… the exultation got even bigger when the w80.de internet homepage was presented.
The Thuringian anthem “Rennsteiglied” and Udo Jürgens “ Ich war noch niemals in New York…” followed and at the end everybody was celebrating like nobody had celebrated there in along time…
