01.07.2004; Saying goodbye to ”Machine’s” machine… back

Now it was time. The people who have read the past articles should be well informed about the fact, that O.F. donated the Ford “Transit”. Since Belgrade, he got his nickname “Machine”. But now it was time to say goodbye to “Machine’s” machine. O.F. is staying with the “red crescent”…

To avoid confusion I want to make sure that it is clear, that in this case O.F. means Olaf’s Ford…The boys leave the car to the Iranian aid organization “red crescent”. Because there has just been a terrible earthquake in Bam last year.

But still not a very pleasant moment. The car has been a loyal companion from Jena to Iran! There were no reasons to worry, besides some little dropouts in the mountains of Kurdistan…And it has also been “home sweet home” for the boys for all this time.

Now “the home” has been given away and the tour can only go on with the things that can be carried …

Oh, the journal from Bernd’s:

8:00 breakfast, sight-seeing tour

10:15 going on towards the desert

12:00 the first hot section at 43°C degrees starts, drive through Rafsanjani

3:00 p.m. arrival in Kerman, saying goodbye to our graceful car, handing it over to the “red crescent”

9:30 p.m. going on in an air conditioned coach over Bam and Zehedan to Mirjaveh, the frontier town to Pakistan
